Pneumonia vaccinations

The pneumococcal vaccine protects against becoming unwell with pneumococcal infection – which can lead to illnesses including bacterial meningitis and pneumonia. Everyone over the age of 65 and those aged 2 to 64 with certain health conditions are eligible for the pneumococcal vaccine.

This vaccine provides lifelong cover from a single vaccine. Given in addition to the annual flu vaccination will increase your protection. We are encouraging all eligible to attend. Posters and leaflets around the surgery will provide you with further information.

Hawthorn Medical Centre is currently running a campaign to ensure all eligible patients can receive this vaccination. We are running a specific clinic for this Saturday 27th April and eligible patients will be invited by text or letter.

If you would like to know more the practice nurses will be able to help. We look forward to seeing many of you in the special clinic we have arranged.
